Summer is the time of new music, so I figured I’d share what I’ve been listening to lately. I would say my music taste is pretty eclectic, but I’m a big fan of R&B specifically. I also listen to a good amount of rap, pop, alternative, and some classic rock since my parents exposed me to favorites like The Grateful Dead early on.
I’ve been rotating between two playlists on my Spotify: low key R&B and June afternoon. Low key R&B is exactly what you would expect based on the title: a lot of slower more mellow soul songs. The artists in the playlist included Drake, Jhene Aiko, Sabrina Claudio, Daniel Caesar, Kali Uchis, Ella Mai, Jorja Smith, H.E.R., Solange, Kehlani, and SZA. Some of my favorite tracks that I’ve been cycling back to often are Naked by Ella Mai, While We’re Young by Jhene Aiko, Summer Games by Drake, and 20 Something by SZA.
June afternoon is more of a Mellow alternative with dreamy electronic vibes. Some of the artists include: Rex Orange County, Beach House, Sales, and Clairo. Clairo’s songs: 4EVER and Pretty Girl are some of my favorites to listen to because they are perfect for soft and pop-y songs for a summer day.
